Deborah Chung, a professor in the UK College of Communication and Information’s School of Journalism and Media, has been named a 2023-2024 Institute for Diverse Leadership Fellow within the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
School of Journalism and Media students in the College of Communication and Information took home a top 10, top 15 and top 20 finish in the esteemed Hearst Journalism Awards.
The University of Kentucky Alumni Association, with a committee chaired by the UK Acting Associate Provost for Faculty Advancement Sue Nokes, honored a select group of outstanding UK faculty members with the 2023 UK Alumni Professorship Awards, including School of Information Science professor Sherali Zeadally. 
Transdisciplinary Educational approaches to advance Kentucky, or TEK, challenges faculty and students to engage with complex, multidimensional and context-specific issues. Some have described these issues as “wicked problems” that exceed the capacity of any one framework, approach or perspective to provide an adequate or lasting solution. Moreover, TEK leverages these issues for students to develop essential employability skills, including the highly valued abilities to engage multiple points of view, reflect on growth, communicate ideas effectively and collaborate in teams.
The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that four students have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to travel abroad to teach, study or pursue research for the 2023-24 academic year. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected based on academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The program operates in more than 140 countries.
After years of hard work and determination, father and daughter, Jeff and Shelby Lynn, will walk across the commencement stage today to receive their bachelor’s degrees from the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information. The journey to this moment was not an easy one, as both faced their own unique challenges along the way. But together, they supported each other through the ups and downs, and now celebrate their achievements — side by side.
This Friday, the University of Kentucky will present broadcaster and media broker W. Lawrence Patrick with its highest honor during the May 2023 Commencement Ceremonies. Patrick, a UK College of Communication and Information alumnus, will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters during the 9 a.m. ceremony Friday, May 5, at Central Bank Center at Rupp Arena.
Three University of Kentucky graduate students emerged victorious in the 2023 'GradTeach Live!' finals competition, taking home over $1,700 in prize money.
Nigel Taylor wrote a children’s book in 2017. He held the first copy of this book, “The Endless Possibilities with Nora and Vincent,” in 2022. Though the five years between those two moments posed challenges, Taylor remained determined to bring his book to life.
