Nonprofit Sector News

Nonprofit Sector News (NSN), a national nonprofit news organization covering only nonprofit organizations is being relaunched this summer and is seeking part-time journalism student interns for one (or more semesters).

Despite more than 500 nonprofit news organizations and thousands of for-profit news organizations in the United States, NSN remains the only one covering a large number and variety of nonprofit organizations for the general public and not primarily for nonprofit organizations’ employees, board members and/or major donors. Thus, one of our goals is to find stories—both news stories and feature stories—about nonprofit organizations that will be of interest to many people, not only those with a prior interest in the activity or topic.

Many of NSN’s journalism interns from its pilot period (2020-22) are now in well-established journalism careers (or worked in journalism and have moved to other fields).

Your application letter must state why you want to intern for NSN and should include several story ideas only about nonprofits. Applications are being reviewed starting immediately with the ideal start date of Tuesday, May 26. To apply, reach out to Dr. Dane Claussen at nonprofitsectornews@gmail.com

If you are past the start date, please email Claussen about future internship opportunities.
